It is my mission to provide superior services to the community by guiding each student to achieve his or her full learning potential. I specialize in foundational learning processes, specifically designed for the special needs child. I have worked with a wide range of children, and adults, with autism spectrum disorders such as PDD and Asperger’s Syndrome; dyslexia; central auditory processing disorders (CAPD); ADD; ADHD; and hyperlexia.
I worked for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes® where I was trained to implement the following programs:
* LiPS™ (Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing™) for reading
* Seeing Stars™ Symbol Imagery for reading and spelling
* Visualizing & Verbalizing™ for language comprehension
My Approach
I use an approach that stimulates the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic senses. I work one-to-one so the program is individualized according to the child's skill level. As the student progresses through the programs, I am able to continuously change the lessons to meet the student's needs. This one-to-one approach means individual attention in a dialog-based format. Above all else, I consider myself an advocate and I create a positive and nurturing environment where each student can feel safe, heard, and valued, and, therefore, is better able to reach their full learning potential.
Areas of focus
Reading and Spelling: Improves phonemic awareness (phonics), word recognition and word attack skills, symbol imagery, and reading fluency.
Comprehension: Improves reading comprehension, receptive and expressive oral language, critical thinking skills, writing, and vocabulary.
